Imperfect perfection

I put you on a pedestal high
Made you out to be perfect guy
You don’t deserve that pedestal of mine
Nor are you a perfect guy

Yet somehow you capture my attention
I focus on more than just your shallow intentions
Knowing that you could never deeply care for me
Yet, a minute with you I’d rather be

The perfect form in which you came
Will someday fade away
For now I chose to be blind
I stand still in time

The knowledge that you will never love me
The knowledge that I have nothing to gain
Rather with you I’ll be
Even in this shattering pain
