Stranger

I woke up this morning
And stared into your emotionless eyes
I wonder who this stranger is looking back at me
Your eyes the door to your unfeeling soul

There was a time I was your everything
Your day started with me and night could not end without me
I wonder who she is that have taken you so far away from me
So far away that you no longer see me

You don't see the pain
And you don't see my sorrow
You look thru me
And you don't even see me

What happened to the man that used to open the car door?
What happened to the one that pulled out my chair?
Who are you that no longer see me?
What are you doing in my bed?

I try to think of days gone by
The days I gave you all my love
And it was all unrequited
And all I feel is sad
I can't even laugh at the good times we had
Your memories makes me feel demented

You don't see the pain
And you don't see my sorrow
You look right thru me
And you don't even see me

I wonder who she is
I wonder what makes her so special
Don't tell me it was just the warmth of another body
When I was waiting in bed for you every night

What did you take me for?
Did you think I'd wait forever?
Well I hope you're happy now
But just remember, she will never be me

The similarity and yet uniqueness of grief & loss

For someone that has gone thru my fair share of loss and grief, one thing that I believe to be true is that grief is grief and loss is loss. The loss of my cat is no less an emotion than that of your breakup. A loss of a brother is no less than that of a parent or a child. Loss is loss. Let's stop trying to put an amount on pain, it's not a competition! Understand that you can't understand the pain the other person is going through because; we all experience pain and deal with it, in our own way.
