Keep rising sisters!

Image
Thanks to Grey's Anatomy and Dr. Dixon way back in 2008, I didn't have to Google Asperger's Syndrome when Greta Thunberg came around.  What has surprised me this week though, after her powerful speech at the UN, are the responses from "adult males" on social media. Their fragile little egos using words like "mentally ill, stupid girl"...and my first thought was "I wonder if he drives a Ferrari to compensate for his really tiny balls"  If you look at the recent protests and marches, the majority people standing out there are females. The female energy is rising and the uneducated male finds it threatening. But that won't silence us all. We will rise. We will continue to raise our voices. We will make our arguments not only loud, but very smart as well. The antiquated mindsets have got to go. Females are by nature more nurturing than males and in this time of turmoil, on this beautiful planet we currently call home, we the female energy...

Do you feel it too?

The rise of the feminine energy is all around us. More and more people are becoming conscious of their surrounding and opening up to a more spiritual way of being. The conversations grow louder and louder and more and more are joining the party! I call it a party, coz we're all woke over here and we're all loving our lives on the daily. You see, the main thing about spirituality is taking responsibility. You take responsibility for your life....you KNOW your thoughts create things...you KNOW that you are in charge of your own happiness ...and you know a bad moment , doesn't equal a bad life . You wake up every morning grateful for the things you have right now, in this moment. Yes, your goal may be to one day speak at a conference in front of a 10,000 people but it didn't happen today. So what are you going to do? Are you going to stay home and mope all day because today was not the day or are you going to take today and prepare for that day? Are you going out the...

What does your name mean? Your name is no accident

Growing up, I used to make fun of my own name. I mean having sisters with lavish names like Renalde, Kenoline, Jacqueline...I always used say my parents got real lazy when it came to me (coz I'm the baby) and stuck me with the shortest name possible: Gabby...five letters, no more and it's not my nickname but my full first name. Or say things like "It's an English word that means talk a lot"  🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️ Somewhere during the process of growing up (I'm still doing that btw), I realized that although my name is an English word that means "talk a lot", I do have a thing about talking. I can't stand lies or people that lie. I'd rather tell you the ugly truth than try to placate you and make you feel better with a lie. I sometimes also say things that sounds wise beyond my years and for some reason, people come to me for advise (yeah, not so sure about that one but ok) and I've been told that I "speak things into existence" (tellin...

Musings...

Image
I read a quote on some positive affirmation page last night that said "They want you to be good but they don't want you to be better than them" And I thought, who are they and why should I care? Your vibe attracts your tribe and if you're constantly in competition with other people around you, they'll be in competition with you. There's a difference between being in competition with the people around you and people motivating you to be & do better. The only person we should be in competition with, is the version of ourselves we were yesterday. So take a breath, there's enough light out there for everyone to shine! And if you can't find the light, BE the DAMN light! Namaste woke folk!  👊

Dear Mom,

Every day, something happens that I want to tell you about.... And yet every day it all seems so insignificant.... I sometimes wonder.... Do you remember me, the way I remember you? Do you think of me when I think of you? Is love the question or Is love the answer? But mom,I should tell you now.... With all questions asked That are never answered I just don't know what to do with "I love you"

The similarity and yet uniqueness of grief & loss

Image
For someone that has gone thru my fair share of loss and grief, one thing that I believe to be true is that grief is grief and loss is loss. The loss of my cat is no less an emotion than that of your breakup. A loss of a brother is no less than that of a parent or a child. Loss is loss. Let's stop trying to put an amount on pain, it's not a competition! Understand that you can't understand the pain the other person is going through because; we all experience pain and deal with it, in our own way.

5 Days & 4 Nights in Antalya

Image
Let’s get right into it....I don’t write travel blogs but Facebook came up with this new blog looking notes section, so I thought I’d give it a shot! (to be later copied to my actual blog) We didn’t get to see everything we wanted to but we got to check out most things. We hired a car, got the GPS to direct us around in English and just ventured about. Day 1 We took a little drive to Kadir’s Tree Houses in Olympia. This was a 2.5hr drive from our hotel in Lara but well worth the trip. We all took our shoes off and immediately chilled in a half tree house and had the best beer ever! I’m saying Bomonti, my travel mates will say Amsterdam. Why should this be on your list of places to check out in Antalya....well because it’s on the list of the most unusual hotels in the world. http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/... We didn’t want to leave...and neither will you :)  Day 2 Our day started at 5:30am wake up for a 6:30am pick up..... this w...

35 Things I learnt before turning 35

Image
The below list is not in order of priority, they are all equally important to me :) Happy reading! Start every day with a grateful heart  -  nothing will give you as much joy as being thankful for what you already have instead of being miserable thinking about what you don't have. Gratitude is the doorway to bringing abundance into your life. Don't compare yourself to others  -  we're all on our own journey in this life and each responsible for that life. Live it by just doing you. Do you to the best of your ability. You do you and I'll do me ;) Don't hold on to the hurt of a past relationship for too long  -  hold on long enough and you'll hold on just to ruin any potential relationship. Cry until your tears dry but don't cry too long. Every relationship is allotted  only  so many tears before you have to put on your big girl pants and move on. Remember that you are born a complete person. You don't need anyone to complete you. And when ...

Ulpotha - Back to life, Back to reality

Image
I know that many people use the term "Back to life, Back to reality" when they return from a    vacation. I am one of them! Going to Ulpotha had the exact opposite effect on me this vacation around... On arrival I was transported back to my childhood. I walked into Kade Hut (breakfast hut) and the smell of the coal fire reminded me of trips we used to take to the Free State to visit my granny. The smell reminded me of early morning family breakfast in that big old kitchen. It smelt like home  Kade Hut Taking a trip with a crazy best friend, meant the arrival was slightly blurry due to too much bubbly in-flight but that didn't stop that childhood memory from seeping into my consciousness. We were shown to our mud hut by the lovely retreat manager Suzi. ( Btw, she reminds me so much of my Aunt Lydia (Lala) that I had even more child likeness resonate with me during the stay.)  The first 2 days were a blur. It's amazing how much sleep o...

I haven't blogged in a while....

Because well, I thought that my blog is all about writing poetry but then I realized, it's my blog! I can do whatever I want with it. And since the name is "The Stranger Within", same as my photo album on Facebook about my Angel Readings, Crystals and Reiki; I decided to start posting some of that on here as well! I'm not done living yet, so I'm not done learning yet. Until the end, there will forever be The Stranger Within....

He plays the saddest songs...

He plays the saddest songs  On his guitar His lonely heart poured into Every note  His vacant smile His empty eyes His lost heart Searching for the melody He plays the saddest songs  That pulls your heart He makes you stare He makes you listen No bass No beat Just loneliness As he plays the saddest song On his guitar

Missing...

Is it possible to miss something you never knew  Like the taste of chocolate  Though you've never seen it Or an ice cold glass of sparkling water on summers day When you never knew that water could sparkle Like falling asleep in your arms When I don't know who you are Or waking up in them When I don't know where you are Is it possible to miss something you never really had
