To have and to hold from this day forward...
I wrote this blog a few weeks ago and thought not to post it. But then I just watched a movie "Why did I get married too" and I figured, I'd post it now
Marriage in the 21st century...seriously? Am I really going to go there? Well, yes I think so. I think people are so used to the marriage vows by now, that no one actually listens to them anymore. You've repeated them since you were a kid thanks to movies and television. But really, what's the big idea about marriage? When I was younger, I used to compare getting married to my favorite dish, lasagna. I used to tell my mom that getting married is like having lasagna every day! And finished off the sentence with "although I love my lasagna, do I really want it every single day of the rest of my life" I mean, coz that's in the vows. The whole "forever" bit. The bit that 50% of the world seems to forget if you're looking at divorce rates. So then why get married? I'm not opposed to marriage, in fact I do believe that at some point, I will be saying "I do". Now that I'm 30, people seem to think that marriage and babies have automatically entered high on my priorities. Well it hasn't. What has entered high up is to travel and see the world before ever having a kid! I always wanted to travel the world but never could. And becoming a trolley dolley....eh, nope! Back to marriage though...
So the vows are " I.... take you....to be your lawfully wedded husband/wife. To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, until parted by death" Right...Does worse include domestic violence or adultery? I'm curious here coz it doesn't really specify...

Call me “old fashioned” but I still (after being spoiled) believe in the vote,
ReplyDeleteeven if I would not go for it now, after a while with the right person > YES
Knowing it’s not easy – I still would give the biggest promise on earth and would live according to it!
Every day Lasagna, YES because every day you discover more of the taste, and it will change over the time.
A few circumstances need to be named which “entitles” everybody to break this promise:
Violence, abuse, adultery and even change of personality of the partner.
Despite those You still need trying to live the promise until you reach the point where you can’t handle it anymore,
where you would need to give up all your believes, not to mention dreams and hopes.
Correct me if I’m wrong > The little promise “YES” is mend to change your life --> to improve it!
GO FOR IT – ones you are ready and not to fill a checklist:
Being here, done it – what’s next.
